Shelter Enrichment for Dogs |
||
Course Information:
The Shelter is a stressful place for most dogs. It can lead to the worsening of behavior problems and the development of new undesirable behaviors, some of which will persist into new homes, others simply make dogs less appealing for adoption, leading to longer shelter stays. Enrichment is an attempt to reduce stress, improve the quality of life, and maintain if not improve the dogs’ adoptability by altering the kennel environment. This telecourse will bring together the scientific literature on kennel enrichment (including Dr. Lord’s own work), zoo enrichment, and the growing field of animal personality. |
