Courses Approved for CEUs
Most of Raising Canine’s courses will qualify for continuing education units or endorsement through your professional organization. Raising Canine has applied for CEUs and endorsement through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and International Association of Canine Professionals. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are regulated through the state in which they practice; many of these courses will qualify in different states. Additionally, many of these courses will qualify for certified members in related professions – please check with your organization. Raising Canine is more than willing to help with CEUs in any way we can.
IAABC: Many of Raising Canine’s courses have been qualified through IAABC; however, some will have to be certified at the time you submit your application. You should allow up to two weeks for this process. IAABC is very good about processing their applications, and if there is a problem both IAABC and Raising Canine will work with you to get the CEUs you need. If, for some reason, IAABC does not qualify a previously qualified course, Raising Canine will give you access to a qualified course at no cost.
KPA: If a course is approved by either CCPDT or IAABC, KPA will honor those CEUs. You may use your receipt as proof of attendance.
IACP: Most of Raising Canine’s courses are now approved for CEUs for IACP. IACP has a list of approved courses on their website. You may use your receipt as proof of attendance.
Qualifying and Applying for CEUs
To verify that an attendee has attended the course, there will be a “secret word” at the beginning and end of each session and sometimes during the middle. You must have these secret words to qualify! The first word will be provided early in the course. If you are late, you may miss the first secret word – and we will not repeat it! If you come into the course late, please do not disrupt the session by asking for the secret word; you will have access to the audio version and can get the word from there.
Once the course is finished, go to the link at the bottom of this page, and fill out the form. A separate form must be submitted for each organization.
CCPDT: CCPDT has recently instituted a new CEU procedure (which, by the way, we think is very slick!). You will no longer receive paper copies of your CEUs from Raising Canine. When you submit a CEU request to Raising Canine, we will enter it directly into the CCPDT database. Please allow up to a month for your CEUs to be entered. You can check your CEU status from the CCPDT website. Here are the instructions for checking your CEU status:
- Go to www.ccpdt.org
- Log in to the “Certificants” section of the website
- Go to “Certificant Info”
- Click on the arrow for “Certificates”
- At the bottom of that page, click on “click here to view your CEU history”
CEUs that have been entered will be listed on the CEU history page. Again, please allow up to a month for your CEUs to be entered. If they are not listed,
IAABC: IAABC has also started a new system which makes it much easier to track your CEUs. When you submit your CEU form to Raising Canine, you will receive a PDF with a course code via e-mail (please allow up to a month to receive your PDF). You can then enter the information directly into your account on the IAABC website. To enter your course information:
- Go to www.iaabc.org
- Log in to the member section
- Click on “My Dashboard”
- Click on “Re-certify”
- Enter your course code
APPLYING FOR CEUs: If you would like to apply for continuing education credits, please complete the appropriate form below. All fields must be completed. If you have any questions or problems completing this form, please contact Raising Canine. Please note that CCPDT and IAABC have separate forms – if you need CEUs for both organizations, you must fill out both forms!
Please be sure to complete the form in its entirety, including your full name and member number. Be sure to give the correct course name, as we have many courses that are similar in topic and if the name is incorrect, we will not know which course you attended.
