The Single Session Model Part I: the Who, What, Where, Why & When

Conventional models of private in home dog training usually consist of a series of hour or 90 minutes sessions working on the specific training issues that compelled the person to call for help in the first place. Meeting weekly or twice monthly or creating packages of training sessions may in fact help the client improve his/her relationship in training the dog, but may miss out on the deeper picture of truly communicating an understanding of dog behavior in a real life context. Often the multiple session model disintegrates when clients suddenly “forget” about their appointment, or they cancel due to a scheduling conflict, or any other possible excuse.

In this 90 minute telecourse, learn:

  • how an intensive 3 hour single session model can both improve on the quality of service provided as well as increase your bottom line.
  • Learn how to do an effective and informative telephone intake by phone (designed to last well under 20 minutes
  • Use the data gathered in the intake to create a customized treatment plan used as a springboard for the 3 hour session (longer by 1/2 hour – 1 hour for multiple dog households).
  • Learn how to create an ongoing relationship with clients in product sales – equipment, toys, treats and food.

In effect, learn how to translate your passion and abilities in communicating with clients who look to you for help in enhancing their relationship with their canine companion, as well as further developing an improved business model design for both the full and part time trainer looking to increase productivity.

This course will consist of an approximately 1 hour discussion of telephone intake, how to do an intake, how to turn the intake into a customized treatment plan, a breakdown of how to structure the 3 hour session and follow up options to provide both excellent customer service as well as future possible sales.

The Single Session Model Part II: The How

In this 90 minute session Rachel will walk you through a typical training session from the time she pulls up to the house until the time she leaves. Includes how she sets up the session no matter age, breed, size or reason for visit; a review of the treatment plan; and how she incorporates training into the real lives of real clients. There will also be a discussion of product sales which can continue the business relationship beyond the actual training session. Rachel did a comprehensive survey of 300 past clients and has come up with some very impressive data! She’ll share this data with you in this course — the data supports both the concept of the single session model and the benefits of providing product as an adjunct to your behavior consultation.
