A presentation overviewing the uses of training and working with Psychiatric Service Dogs (PSDs). Ms. Miller will explain what the Psychiatric Service Dogs are and how they differ from other Service Dogs. She will explain strategies to support trainers, clients, and their PSDs. The strategies ensure that both the clients’ AND animals’ needs are addressed. The presentation will also explain the challenges (and some solutions) specific to working with clients with Psychiatric Disabilities, their Service animals, as well as the ethics involved, the collaboration with psychotherapists, and the ADA. She will include useful information about stress in service dogs, task training, and resources available. Ms. Miller invites you to join us in this overview of working with Psychiatric Service Dogs.
