The focus of this course is on criteria setting and record keeping. 

What is covered in this course:

Setting Criteria

• To train efficiently and well, the trainer should be setting quickly achievable criteria. This involves splitting behavior into very small increments and training each increment to a level of fluency. 
• In dog training, the rule of thumb for fluency before raising criteria is an 80% compliance rate. If you are setting good criteria, most increments of behavior should be learned within one set, or 5-10 trials. 

Record Keeping

• Record keeping allows you to know when you have reached an 80% compliance rate. It also keeps you on track – if you are logging your sessions in writing, you will always know where you’ve been and where you need to go
• For those who are interested, record keeping also allows you to gather data.
