owner services
Raising Canine offers many services. You may choose to have
private obedience
lessons or train by long distance with
eDog
Services. If you have a dog who has more
serious behavior
problems, we offer private lessons to teach you what to do under adverse
circumstances while modifying the behavior.
If you're in the market for your first dog, you can consult with Raising
Canine about what to look for in a dog, breeder, puppy, etc. If you have
questions about or problems with dog behavior, we're here to help you. If you want more knowledge and education about animal behavior, click here for on-line courses and telecourses.
Raising
Canine's eDog Services are designed for those who aren't able to attend
regular classes or private lessons. These reasons can vary from
living in a remote area to working odd hours. eDog Services allow you to
work with your dog at your convenience.
We consult through a combination of computer, telephone and video. Simple
questions and comments can be done through e-mail; more detailed
conversations can be held over the telephone. Videos and/or web cams will
allow Raising Canine to observe the dog and owner, enabling us to critique
your methods and to pinpoint issues that the owner may miss. The charge for the remote service is the same as for any private consultation -- $100.00 per hour. The advantage of eDog Services is that you are charged only for the time spent -- in a regular private lesson, there is a one-hour minimum. The client will provide Raising Canine with a retainer and Raising Canine will keep a log detailing how that money is being used. Raising Canine will send a copy of this log to the owner at any time the owner requests a copy, if the retainer needs replenishing, or when the case is concluded. When the retainer reaches $100.00 or less, Raising Canine will notify the owner that they need to replenish the retainer. Because this is a remote service, the client should expect to purchase certain materials.
Reasons for Private Behavior Counseling There are many behavior problems that cannot be solved in a group obedience class. These include issues such as barking, house training, inappropriate chewing and other destructive behaviors. Additionally, fear and aggression should not be addressed in a group setting unless the trainer is holding classes specifically for these issues.

Advantages of Group Classes
Group classes are generally less expensive than private sessions. In addition, you have built in distractions and a built in support group -- everyone in class is having the same problems you are! Group classes are fun for both owners and dogs -- we allow off-leash socializing for the dogs, and the owners are invited to get to know the dogs and people involved in the class.
Raising Canine is partnering with Buddy's Chance to hold group classes. For more information on available classes you can contact either sue@raisingcanine.com or cara@buddyschance.com.
Cost
Group class costs will vary depending on the class.
